Crystal Deodorant VS Excessive Sweating... A Review

Crystal deodorant not only cured my excessive sweating, it made me a happier more relaxed person. Here is my story...

I used to sweat... A LOT. So much so, I had sweat patches on the armpits all of my clothes whenever I did anything more than sit down. It kind of all started several years ago when I was suffering from anxiety and depression.

As I moved out of that dark period of my life, everything improved and I became the happy person I am today but one thing stuck with me, the sweat patches!

I Am No Different To Anybody Else

I am not particularly overweight (maybe a stone), keep myself fit, am pretty relaxed in most situations these days. So I could not understand why I sweated so much. I just wore dark clothes and accepted the fact that I was a sweaty person. I used to pile on the deodorant, I would go through a tin every week or so, just to try and block the pores and minimise the perspiration.

This caused a vicious circle as when I did sweat the chemicals in the deodorant transferred to my clothes and formed a waterproof seal under my armpits that instantly created sweat when I put my clothes on.

The issue wasn't body odor as I showered daily and with that amount of product I did not smell. I started to realise that the problem was not so much me as when I wore no top I did not sweat so much, but when I wore previously 'sweated in' clothes I instantly started perspiring, even straight after a shower. I even tried ironing the armpits of my clothes to try and steam off the chemicals!

Time For Action!

I was blasting my armpits one day under the hand dryer at work when got to the point where I decided to investigate why this was happening or try the doctor. I remembered a friend of mine used to talk about a mystical crystal deodorant stone he got bought and how it worked great. I did a quick google search and started to do some research.

What Is Crystal Deodorant?

Crystal deodorant (also known as Potassium Alum/Ammonium Aluminum or Tawas) has long been used as an underarm deodorant in Europe, Mexico, Asia and the Philippines. It is a naturally occurring mineral salt and is used for many cosmetic, medicinal and culinary functions.

When used as a crystal deodorant it suppresses underarm bacteria that cause odor. I found that traditional underarm deodorant containing aluminum had been linked to breast cancer, brain deterioration and renal dysfunction. Looking at my symptoms it sounded like I might have a condition called Hyperhidrosis. 

Human sweat itself is odorless until fermented by bacteria which thrives on the hot, moist environment. Washing with pH basic soaps can excacerbate the situation by raising the skins natural pH to make it more susceptible to bacterial colonization.

I Needed To Do Something About It

This information made me realise that I really needed to try something different and the amount I was using could be impacting my health as well as my wallet.

I decided to order some crystal deodorant spray which had a natural aloe vera to condition the skin with a subtle fragrance. The first day I tried it I sprayed and I did not know when to stop, I was used to covering myself in the stuff so I gave it a few blasts just to make sure. I was wandering around for a few minutes waiting for it to dry.

I went out for a meal and was so concerned I was going to have 'sweat/odor issues' I took some of my old deodorant in my pocket. The night went without issue so I carried on using it.

I must admit the first day or so it didn't seem to be that great but after while I noticed that I didn't have to use as much to keep myself 'fresh and dry'.

My First Attempt

The problem I found was that the spray ran out pretty quick, so I then tried one of the rocks which supposedly lasted 'up to 12 months'. This was fantastic, you need to wet it before applying but you can get a good coating and let it dry and it would last for the whole day . The only downside is that it is very round and slippery when wet, and I was forever dropping it on the floor and breaking it. The bits can be sharp underfoot!

I then noticed a product that is the crystal deodorant in a stick and encased in plastic. It looks like a normal roll on, you just push it up to apply.

The Verdict

The rest as they say is history, I have been using the push up crystal deodorant every day and my excessive sweating is history. I am also sure that the reduction of the nasty chemicals in my body has improved my mental state.

I can honestly say that crystal deodorant has changed my life, I am more confident and relaxed and can finally wear other colors of clothes than black!!
